Workshop descriptions
1pm - 2:30pm Part 1: Countertechnique class (Dancers only)
Countertechnique is the movement system Chunky Move’s Artistic Director, Anouk van Dijk developed throughout her twenty-five year career as dancer, choreographer and teacher, and serves as reference in all her choreographic work and is used by her dancers in training, rehearsal and performance.
This Countertechnique class will consist of a specific warm up and will reference phrase material from Complexity of Belonging.
Countertechnique provides tools for body and mind to deal with the deman¬ding dance practice of the 21st century. It is a movement system to help the dancer think about the dancing body, focusing on the process of incorporating information into action. Within a clear structure of exercises the Countertechnique class thoroughly prepares the body and mind for rehearsal.
Next to the class format, the Countertechnique method can be studied in depth during the annual One Body, One Career Intensives (2015 edition will take place in Melbourne in July). Countertechnique is taught by a growing number of teachers around the world, who regularly come together at the biannual Countertechnique Teachers Training (CTTT) program.
