Countertechnique returns to the American Dance Festival with Teachers Countertechnique Joy Davis and Kira Blazek Ziaii as part of the American Dance Festival's Six Week School Faculty. In 2005, Countertechnique Founder Anouk van Dijk taught at the ADF Six Week School, resulting in a substantial American following. Now, two of her then students, Joy Davis and Kira Blazek Ziaii, return to ADF as Teachers Countertechnique!
At the heart of ADF is the Six Week School (6WS), where dancers from around the country and around the world come to train and to create, to see and be seen. Over the course of the festival, students of all levels work each day with ADF’s diverse faculty, extraordinary musicians, and vibrant student body to create rewarding, life-changing experiences. The six-and-a-half week commitment results in the enduring, hard-won benefits that only long-term training can yield. For students ages 18 and older.
TRAIN
Take part in Countertechnique, modern technique, Gaga, improvisation, composition, ballet, partnering, hip hop, and more. Add variety to your regular schedule with drop-in classes and workshops. Our faculty includes artists and educators from all over the country and world.
CREATE
At ADF you’ll create dances with your peers, lasting professional relationships with faculty and guest artists, a community of fierce dancers from all over the world, your future, and the future of the art form.
SEE
2017 will feature performances by 20 different companies; the 2017 performance schedule will be available online in the spring. You’ll get a complimentary ticket to every show at the Durham Performing Arts Center and Reynolds Industries Theater!
