One Body, One Career Intensive (OBOC) 2024

In 2024, there will once again be two One Body, One Career Intensives (OBOC) to choose from: one in Amsterdam and one in Los Angeles! The OBOC is thé hub for everyone interested in knowing more about Countertechnique, and brings together participants from all over the world to delve into Anouk van Dijk’s Countertechnique method, to learn invaluable skills for their career, and to build connections around the globe. OBOC offers dancers pathways to delve in deep, dance their hearts out, or explore both. After successful editions in New York in 2022 and 2023, this year we're bringing OBOC for the first time to the West Coast of the United States, whilst also hosting the event again at Henny Jurriëns Studio in Amsterdam.
The OBOC Intensive has been designed for professional dancers and advanced dance students interested in pursuing a long, healthy and successful career in dance. First time participants will gain a detailed introduction to the distinct elements and methodology that form Countertechnique, while returning participants will have the opportunity to deepen and expand their understanding. Through physical practice, theory, discourse, elective and creative workshops, participants will gain a set of practical tools that they will be able to draw from and apply in their daily dance practice and through performance seasons.
The combined 2024 faculty in Los Angeles and Amsterdam include Countertechnique Founder and former Chunky Move Artistic Director Anouk van Dijk, Senior Teachers Countertechnique Niharika Senapati, Joy Davis, Elita Cannata and Rosanna Tavarez, Teachers Countertechnique Francesca Dominguez, Samuel Melecio-Zambrano and Eva Schaller, and long-time collaborator, Alexander Technique Teacher Tom Koch. Each OBOC will run for 10 full days, separated by a break in the middle.

- Thu 29 Feb - Deposit needs to be paid to secure spot
- Sun 3 Mar - If spots are available, first invitations to waitlist applicants are sent out

HOW TO APPLY
Due to the limited number of places, candidates are asked to submit a personal motivation statement and CV for consideration in PDF format and not exceeding three pages. An additional dancer's reel is required, which should include footage shot in a studio (improvisation or choreography). Applications are assessed on level and motivation.
LOCATION
The OBOC LA will take place in the spacious studios of CalArts, located 30 miles north of Los Angeles in Santa Clarita. The OBOC Amsterdam will be held at the Chassé Studios, located in the centre of Amsterdam.

COUNTERTECHNIQUE TEACHER TRAINING 2024
For those dancers interested in applying for the annual Countertechnique Teacher Training (CTTT): applications for the CTTT 2024 are now closed. This year, the CTTT will take place in Amsterdam from 9-22 August 2024. Participation in the OBOC 2024 is an excellent way to deepen your study of Countertechnique and in preparation for the CTTT 2025 application process or in later years; OBOC LA and OBOC Amsterdam are equally suitable for this purpose.
